Abby Forshey is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee and Counselor Trainee currently working towards her Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy at The University of Akron. Abby graduated from Otterbein University with a BS in Psychology and BA in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She is currently working towards her certification in Sex Therapy through ASSECT and hopes to help couples and the LGBTQ+ community in her future work. In addition to working with couples at the University of Akron Clinic, Abby has co-facilitated an Alcohol and Drug Recovery Group and has obtained her CDCA Preliminary to better serve those suffering with addictions.

Abby enjoys going to concerts, traveling, reading, and dancing. She is passionate about helping couples and families strengthen their relationships and improve positive communication styles within the couple system. Abby works from a systemic lens, incorporating structural and emotion-focused therapy techniques, as well as CBT and feminist therapy.
